Project HERA (Sustainable tourism management of Adriatic HERitage) was selected for co-financing within the framework of the IPA Adriatic Territorial Cooperation Programme 2013.-2020. first call for strategic projects. Zadar County is the initiator and the Lead Beneficiary of the Project. Projects implementation period started on 1st of November 2013 and will last until 31st of March 2016. The partnership consists of 19 partners from 8 countries of the Adriatic Basin (Croatia, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece).
Institution for Development of Competence, Innovation and Specialization of Zadar County INOVAcija takes part in the Project as an In-House service provider for the Lead Partner, Zadar County.
HERA’s specific aim is: "To develop a joint cross-border platform within the Adriatic area for management and promotion of sustainable tourism based on common cultural heritage". The Project will define the criteria and methodology necessary to meet the standards for the award of the HERA trademark for Adriatic cultural tourism destination. The Hera trademark will define and guarantee the standards of high quality cultural tourism product in line with the best practices in the field of protection and management of the environment.
Feasibility of the defined methodology will be tested through the implementation of the Pilot Projects i.e. the creation of the tourist routes based on cultural heritage that would incorporate the cultural heritage elements restored through the Project activities and the restored and newly equipped visitors centres.
When talking about the Zadar County area most notable Project activities are related to the restoration of the City Walls elements (The Passageway of Emperor Augustus and the Gate of St. Grisogonus ) and the restoration and equipment of the Visitors center in the space of Mali Arsenal.
The total Project budget is 8.842.602,24 EUR.
